There are only a handful of situations where replication of your art, your work, your brand is considered an act of flattery. For the majority of startups this certainly is not the case, and the act of duplication of your works can be a serious problem if not devastating, to your business.

So, what is intellectual property, and should your startup care about it?

Intellectual property refers to creations of the mind: inventions, literary and artistic works, and symbols, names and images used in commerce. Intellectual property is divided into two categories: Industrial Property, and Copyright.
