An aging population and human longevity are global trends. In the digital era of Smart Cities and smart homes, one of the biggest potential markets for IoT and AI solutions is enabling aging people to remain independent, stay at home, and enjoy their lives without having to rely on their children, caregivers or expensive assisted living options.

The Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence are here, and they are making inroads in many new industries, and in many new and innovative ways including home care settings. With the rise of IoT devices, sensors, big data solutions, and machine learning through artificial intelligence a number of startups and big organizations alike are learning how these innovations can help people age in place and extend the time they can live independently.

Technology assistance for aging in place is being developed for a number of applications.
