Mentor Talk: Chris Salter - Knowing When and How to Bring in Help
Limited Capacity filling up

Being a leader in a startup can be a lonely and solitary role and we often times fall to thoughts of a lack of support, cooperation, and collaboration from our organization. More often than not, though, these thoughts are not the fault of our team's or organization's unwillingness to lend a hand, but the fact that most people simply don’t, or won’t, ask for help.

Why? A common barrier is that we are often times blind to the fact that we need help. Another barrier is that we often times fear asking for help as it is interpreted as a sign of weakness, ignorance, or failure. Also, a strong culture of self-reliance is one of our core barriers, an admirable trait that can cause a significant failure in your startup.

Come and enjoy conversation with Chris Salter, a seasoned entrepreneur, CEO of Music Wizard, Board Member for Startup Longmont, mentor, and community thought leader. Chris teaches and mentors in the Longmont community and further afield on inception and early stage entrepreneurial tools and thinking.

Throughout LSW’18 Chris will be working with a number of our community thought leaders to provide entrepreneurial sessions across a variety of topics under the Founder Track. In this session, he will be discussion when you should ask for help, whom you should ask for help, how you should ask for help, and most importantly how to get out of our own way and accept help.

Idea Generation and Opportunity Recognition (Reversed) (Room C1724)
Limited Capacity seats available

Opportunities abound and human ingenuity has taken us on a path to both the moon and the invention of the Pop-Tart. What ideas do you have and how do you recognize opportunity? Listen and learn to some of the ways you can generate ideas and opportunities.

In this session we will be taking a reversed approach, meaning our panel will be asking questions of the audience! Our panel consisting of Tomorrow's Entrepreneurs and our subject matter expert will be learning from you. Our mentors, seasoned entrepreneurs, service providers, community mentors and subject matter experts.

The mechanics:
Each question or conversational topic will be posed to the audience and invited to answer. Those invited to respond will have just a few short minutes (timed) to respond, if there is no audience respondent the dubious task will fall to the panel subject matter expert.

Let's see who gets stumped first!
