Steve is a master networker and connector building bridges with community and business leaders increasing awareness and dismantling barriers to employment for individuals with disabilities.
Over a decade seeking, discovering, and replicating best practices in training and employment for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Connecting directly with founders and entrepreneurs like Thorkil Sonne (Specialisterne), Tom D’Eri (Rising Tide Car Wash) and implementers like Jose Velasco (SAP Autism at Work) and Phil McKinney(Cable Labs/Hacking Autism).
In Colorado Steve has been building a true “Spectrum of employment” for individuals with ASD; from jobs at local thrift stores, a car wash, a coffee company, a craft brewery, an electronics recycling company, on up to high tech positions with established companies and early stage startups.
Forged relationships with private sector diversity leaders like Randy Lewis (Walgreens), and leading disability advocates like Temple Grandin PhD. (CSU) to build towards services that leave silos behind.
Actively participating on several boards and committees that directly impact access to employment for persons with disabilities (PWD) like the Governors Colorado Advisor Council for PWD, DRMAC Denver Regional Mobility and Access Council, the Transit Alliance Citizens Academy, and the Tri-County Workforce Investment Board.
Taking an active role in the IT, Healthcare, and Arboriculture sector strategies even before they were called that participating on both the Colorado Stem Network, and the Creative Careers Task Force.
From SXSW to local startup weeks continually raising awareness, advocating, coaching, and encouraging groups and individuals towards a truly inclusive world.
